We received a copy of Destroy All Zombies quite a while ago, and couldn’t wait to share it with our members, friends, and followers! Not only is author James T. Jasiorkowski a zombie expert, he is also an amazingly talented artist. And this comprehensive field manual is chock-full of wonderfully detailed illustrations, hacks, and tactics to stop the zombie apocalypse.
Destroy All Zombies isn’t exactly a survival manual, and doesn’t actually contain very much advice concerning wilderness skills or disaster preparedness. Instead, it’s more akin to an illustrated encyclopedia of useful hacks for a post-zombie world. From improvised weapons to military vehicles, this is a perfect reference guide to keep in your bug out bag.
Presented as an “official” publication of the Department of Apocalypse Management, this book doesn’t mess around. Unlike many zombie survival guides, it isn’t tongue-in-cheek. There are over thirteen sections, categorized by subject; but thanks to the hundreds of illustrations you won’t need to waste time referring to an index. And when seconds can mean the difference between life and death, it may just prove to be the best thing about this book!
Every reader from the survival enthusiast to the urban hipster will find a place for themselves in this visual outline of humankind’s best options for defeating the undead. Illustrated in classic field manual style, Destroy All Zombies includes combat instructions, battle plans, outbreak maps and other goodies. Although packed with information, it is a fun, light read that can be read straight through, or opened up to at any section and enjoyed.
Don’t be mistaken, there are plenty of survival tips throughout this guide; many of which we didn’t even consider until seeing them depicted. For example, securing exterior windows is a given. But digging a ditch below them only seemed obvious once we saw Jasiorkowski’s illustrations. So much can be learned by simply flipping through the pages of this book!
Of course you’ll actually want to sit down and read many of the sections as well, since they contain lots of useful information. In fact, some of the entries appear to be written from direct experience with the undead, which really provides Destroy All Zombies with some authority.
It’s a great addition to any survivalist’s arsenal, the perfect accessory for your bug out bag, and an entertaining read for all zombie fans.
