The Zombie Research Society is dedicated to the historic, cultural and scientific study of the living dead. Our team of writers and Advisory Board members are constantly researching the undead, raising awareness, and preparing readers for the inevitable zombie apocalypse. But we also appreciate the full support of our members, friends and followers across the world!
Every year our fellow fans observe Zombie Awareness Month by hosting charitable events, attending conventions, or simply celebrating the zombie phenomenon itself. The movement has even been adopted by a number of organizations including state governments, local film festivals, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The campaign runs every year from May 1 to May 31. The month of May was chosen because a number of notable zombie films are set in May, such as the classic George A. Romero zombie film, Night of the Living Dead. In addition, the sense of hope, renewal and optimism that the spring season brings gives a contrast to the darkness of a zombie apocalypse.
This year we’d like to thank you all by giving away the amazing Tribute T-Shirt shown below! Fifteen people will be chosen at random on May 31st, 2017; and we’ll even cover shipping to anywhere in the world. Simply let us know that you’re interested by commenting on this post below or by visiting our social media accounts online at Facebook or Twitter – that’s it!
We hope that you enjoy Zombie Awareness Month, thank you all for supporting us here at the Zombie Research Society… and remember, what you don’t know can eat you!
Sooooo…….. Who were the lucky winners? I was just curious.
Hello zombie aficionados. Thanks so much for the shirt. Currently, I’m teaching summer school and wore it last week and got several thumbs up. I plan to wear it tomorrow to honor and celebrate George Romero’s achievements. Most’ of my students get that The Walking Dead and other current zombie sagas are “viral” zombies, a sign of the times….
But in ’68, it was all about the Space Race and the Cold War with the Soviet Union. UFO’s were everywhere and radiation from a nuclear fall-out was on people’s minds…. so radiation was the implementation that Romero so wisely chose to infect his zombies.
Hello Jake! We’re glad that you’re enjoying your new ZRS Tribute T-shirt, and can’t think of a better way to honor our friend George A. Romero… thank you so much for supporting the Zombie Research Society!
I am definitely interested! That would be so cool. I’d love to wear this shirt it would be a great conversation starter to get people talking about zombie awareness!!

Where are you in Utah? I’m in south Utah county myself.
Hello all! I am a PhD candidate who is currently dissertating on using popular culture, specifically zombies, in the classroom to help my basic writing students succeed in the writing class and beyond. This has been a fun and insightful project for me. The students love it! They love to learn how to become better writers with the living dead. Thank you for your website and the research that you do. I have used some of it in my classroom. I would love to win a T-shirt so that I can wear it to class this summer and because I love the origninal Romero movies. If I win, may I please have a Large T-Shirt.
P.S. How do I become a member of the ZRS? The link seems to be broken….
May 16 is my birthday. or should I rather say my Deth Day! I can think of no better way to celebrate me being one more year closer to death than by getting one of your t shirts. So, I hope you get this and select me. Before you know what happens.
I’m an English Teacher at Bulldog Academy in Thomasville, NC. I decided that a fun project would be for them to create a survival guide. Many of my students had read the book, Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen and had created a survival guide based on the character who crash lands in the Canadian wilderness. It was suggested by my principal to turn it up a notch this year and make it a survival guide that deals with zombies! This has been a wonderful experience for my class. Special thanks to PBS for putting together a GREAT lesson that I could steal and customize for myself. Extra special thanks to Dr. Steven Schotzman for the premise of studying zombies to better understand ourselves and to ZombieResearchSociety.com for making all these awesome resources available for my kids to research, ponder, and write into well-thought out guides on surviving zombies! Oh, the shirt… XL please!
Oh, wow! I MUST have this shirt! The original Dawn of the Dead is my favorite zombie movie and this will be an awesome SECOND ZRS shirt I’d own!
