After the success of his previous novels, author Jay Bonansinga is teaming up once again with Robert Kirkman to explore the world of The Walking Dead. The new title has officially been announced as the first in an upcoming four-book series to be published by Thomas Dunne Books and is tentatively scheduled for release on October 4th, 2014.
According to a recent article from Entertainment Weekly, the new novel is currently titled Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead: Descent and will focus on the character of Lilly Caul; who is known to fans of the original comic book series and Bonansinga’s previous novels.
The new novel will feature Lilly Caul — a character from the original comic book whose arrival at Woodbury was chronicled in previous book The Road to Woodbury — as she returns to the town and attempts to rebuild it after the Governor’s failed assault on the prison.
Robert Kirkman’s direct involvement with the upcoming novel has led many fans to speculate that Lilly Caul may return to the comic book series itself. And some have even cited the cover art for issue #127 as proof that the character will reappear after the current storyline come to an end. We’ll be sure to let you know as we learn more ourselves!
