Reborns are manufactured vinyl dolls that have gone through a custom transformation to make them look as much like a real human baby as possible. They take up to several months to complete, and can cost as much as $5,000.
Now ZRS contributor Leslie Lopez is reporting that a small number of artists are turning the growing reborn community on its head by offering zombie reborns. These dolls look in every way like human babies that have turned into flesh hungry zombies. Why would anyone want to own a high priced zombie baby? We have no idea. But artist Bean Shanine can’t keep them in stock in her Bellingham, Washington reborn “nursery”.
A former hairdresser, Shanine had this to say about her new career:
“I never in a million years thought I would be making reborns, and especially monster reborns. I don’t even like monsters!”
Shanine listed her first reborn on ebay for $125, and it sold within minutes. Now she sells them all over the world for between $650 and $2,500.
