Spit hoods, or spit socks, are commonly used by law enforcement to prevent the threat of detained citizens spitting or biting. Spit hoods catch and retain potentially toxic blood, vomit and other bodily fluids. They’re loose fitting, so one size fits all, and they allow suspects to see and breathe normally.
If constructed of a thicker, opaque material, zombie spit hoods could prevent the undead menace from not only biting but also seeing its surroundings. And when paired with a modified dog catcher’s pole, as seen below, the tool might prove useful in capturing and disposing of roaming zombies while still keeping a safe distance.
The hood could be added to the end of the pole so you never need to get too close!
But what if your surrounded? You could only put one on one zombie?
Look up “man catcher” as a medieval polearm. They were used by city watches to catch unruly or drunken townspeople without “seriously” injuring them. very similar in concept to the pole above.
I recommend, if you’re going to use the control poles, use the ones they have in New Orleans. It’s made of thick rope and the rod has a y-shaped, which means it has two points instead of one. The problem with regular control poles is that the wire loop and one pressure points can lead to serious injury of those on the pole. You can easily choke the animal. While that may not seem bad for zombies, do you REALLY want zombie juice flying at your face?
