BEWARE STARVATION’S HEAD GAMES

Research has shown that there is a clear connection between chronic despair and prolonged starvation. As acceptable food for human consumption will likely be in short supply in the coming zombie pandemic, this will be another contributing factor to widespread mental health issues that could result in the untimely deaths of many otherwise healthy survivors.

In 1966 the New England Journal of Medicine published reports about this linked relationship between starvation and brain damage:

“During the early stages of hunger, irritability and emotional lability are the rule, but later profound and continuing apathy occurs. In the most advanced stages of starvation, defects of memory, confusion, hallucinations, delusions, and intellectual deficits become evident.”

In addition to having a zombie emergency kit filled with essential gear, maintaining a positive attitude in a catastrophic undead outbreak is just as vital to your survival. Depression and despair already cause negative side effects in tens of millions of people worldwide.

In a zombie pandemic, these same mental obstacles may be the difference between life and death.

  1. I was once put on a starvation diet that got me to lose 140 pounds in 7 months. While I needed to lose the weight, the general lack of nutrients that I was getting certainly contributed to an unstable mental health. That on top of the fact that I was in a bad situation in my life meant I practically went insane. I’m better now, but I don’t want to think about what might have happened at that time in my life if there had been a zombie outbreak. Good nutrition is certainly one of of the most important things to survival.
