ZOMBIE RESEARCH SOCIETY GIFT GUIDE!

The irony of creating a virtual gift guide for surviving the zombie apocalypse isn’t lost on us; especially considering the themes of consumerism in George A. Romero’s 1978 zombie cult classic Dawn of the Dead. But it’s the season of giving and even zombie fans get swept up in the wonderful Christmas spirit; celebrating charity, goodwill, and a renewed sense of hope!

So whether you’re looking for that perfect gift for the zombie fan in your life, or maybe just something for yourself, we’ve put together this collection of the finest survival gear, books, and trinkets for the holiday season. There’s something here for everyone. So take a look and let us know what you think; but most importantly we wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

. . .

SURVIVAL SUPPLIES:

Valley Food Storage: Honestly, most emergency food supplies are bland and disgusting. But Valley Food Storage provides the taste you want while eliminating unhealthy preservatives, hydrogenated oils, and MSG. In fact, our own survival expert and Advisory Board member Cameron Carlson recently reviewed these products and wholeheartedly recommends them!

LifeStraw Go Water Filter Bottle: This is a no-brainer; every prepper, survivalist, and zombie enthusiast should have one of these filtration devices in their bug out bag. You can buy the original LifeStraw if you’re worried about space, but we highly recommend the 23-ounce bottle listed here. It removes 99.9999% of waterborne bacteria, and 99.9% of waterborne protozoan parasites without chemicals, iodine or batteries… which may just save your life!

Mestel Safety – Full-Face Gas Mask: We’ve covered food and water, but if you’re worried about the air you breath; we recommend the SGE 400/3. Not only is it resistant to chemical agents and aggressive toxic substances, but… wait a minute! It’s resistant to chemical agents and toxic substances! What more do you need to know? This is the mask you need, period.

PREPAREDNESS GEAR:

WEEGO 66 Jump Starter: Don’t let the name fool you; the Weego is much more than a jump starter. It includes an LED flashlight, can charge almost any USB device, and even provides a 12 Volt port for powering camping equipment, air compressors, and more. We’ll have a full review available soon, but this piece of survival gear deserves a space in your bug out bag!

First My Family 4FKIT: This amazing family-owned business provides survival kits to families, businesses, and communities. They even partnered with The Walking Dead to offer officially licensed bug out bags at one time; but this particular kit provides four people with 72 hours of survival and first-aid supplies. Just take a look at everything inside and you’ll be amazed!

GearLight LED Tactical Flashlight: The S1000 model is ultra-bright, compact, and features five different modes. It’s also water-resistant and virtually indestructible. But this particular listing contains two flashlights, so you can give one to the apocalypse partner in your life!

ARMOR AND EQUIPMENT:

WOLIORS 211 Tactical Vest: We haven’t received this particular tactical vest ourselves, but the reviews and price point make it a strong contender for the best, and most affordable, survival gear this season. Sniper shoulder, radio pouch, cross-draw holster, pistol belt, four rifle magazine pouches, and more… all for less than fifty bucks? You can’t beat that price!

Kevlar Cut Resistance Neck Protector, 18” Sleeve & Glove: We recommend parting these items out. But if you want to provide protection for the zombie survivalist in your life, you can’t beat this three-in-one deal available on Amazon. You’ll get EN388 Certified Kevlar protection for your neck, arms, and hands all in one fell swoop; completely zombie-proof!

Jadedragon PJ Tactical Fast Helmet: If you’re not worried about the air you breath, perhaps this tactical helmet is more to your liking. The set comes complete with a fast helmet, foldable mask, and tactical goggles. The colors and designs are almost unlimited, so you’ll look cool whether you’re killing zombies or just playing paintball. Either way your bases are covered!

GUNS AND WEAPONS:

Mossberg 500 Tactical: You can’t buy this one on Amazon, but we had the chance to evaluate the new Mossberg shotgun in person and it is definitely the best self-defense weapon on the market, hands down. Equally suited for killing zombies or the opening day of deer season!

Springfield – 1911 Loaded .45ACP: Granted, this is a personal favorite. But the new 1911 from Springfield is everything you could ever want in a pistol; whether it’s for home defense or protection from the undead hordes. Zombies won’t retreat from love and understanding!

Gerber Downrange Tomahawk: Maybe you prefer hacking zombies to death while smarter family members admire your bravery from a safe distance. This 420HC steel tactical axe is from Gerber Legendary Blades, not to be confused with the Gerber Products Company; purveyors of fine baby food. Regardless, this survival tool will definitely come in handy!

BOOKS:

Destroy All Zombies: Illustrated Hacks, Preps, and Tactics to Stop the Apocalypse: This field manual by author James T. Jasiorkowski is chock-full of wonderful illustrations, hacks, and tactics to survive the zombie apocalypse. It would be a great addition to any survivalist’s arsenal, the perfect accessory for your bug out bag, and a fun read for all zombie fans!

Zombie Zone Series: We actually teamed up with author Ruth Owen to produce four amazing children’s books that we hope will educate, entertain, and encourage the next generation of little zombie researchers. All four books including Becoming a Zombie, Voodoo Zombies, Zombie Apocalypse, and Zombies Through the Ages are currently available via Amazon!

I Saw Mommy Biting Santa Claus: A Zombie Christmas Story: Our own founder Matt Mogk actually wrote this charming little Christmas tale! Full of fun and colorful illustrations by artist Aja Wells and featuring a free downloadable soundtrack from The Dollyrots, it’s a modern day zombie Christmas carol. The song alone is worth adding this gem to your Christmas playlist!

VIDEO GAMES:

Resident Evil 2: You know it, you love it, and now it’s been remastered for the next generation! This spine-chilling update of the horror classic from 1998 has been completely rebuilt from the ground up for a brand new experience. Although it won’t be released until January, you can still go and place your pre-orders right now for Xbox One and Playstation 4 via Amazon!

State of Decay 2 – Ultimate Edition: This popular open world zombie survival video game has entertained over 3 million players since its original release. And now the Ultimate Edition for Xbox One is finally available in a physical edition with all the extras and goodies you deserve!

Call of Duty Black Ops III Zombie Chronicles: Why buy the original game alone when you can provide the zombie fan in your life with this edition that includes a digital download code for the zombie content they really want? Skip straight to the good stuff with this special edition!

MOVIES & TELEVISION:

Zombie: 3-Disc Limited Edition: Just in time for its 40th Anniversary, Blue Underground will finally release Lucio Fulci’s zombie cult classic Zombie in a brand-new 4K Restoration from the original uncut and uncensored camera negative. Absolutely packed with special features, and available in three different lenticular covers, this will be released on November 27, 2018.

The Walking Dead: Season 8: Did you give up on this zombie series from AMC? Maybe you can just buy the last season for a friend this Christmas and catch up on the story vicariously.

Night of the Living Dead: The Criterion Collection: We can’t even begin to explain why every single zombie fan needs this 4K digital restoration of George A. Romero’s genre-defining film in their collection. After years of horrible public domain editions, Criterion has finally provided this movie with the attention and respect it deserves. This new edition is worth the upgrade!
