We had the opportunity to view the brilliant 4K restoration of George A. Romero’s zombie cult classic Night of the Living Dead late last year during its limited theatrical run, and it was absolutely amazing! The importance of Night of the Living Dead can hardly be understated; countless articles, editorials, and books have been devoted to the incredible impact that it has had on film-making and our culture. But all the technical improvements of this restoration pale in comparison to what it truly offers a modern audience – a genuine experience!
That’s why we’re very happy to announce that Living Dead Media will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of this seminal film with two new theatrical screenings via Fathom Events. Not to mention an exclusive event with the filmmakers, cast, and crew at the historic Byham Theater in Pittsburgh, where Night of the Living Dead originally premiered fifty years ago!
October 1st marks the 50th anniversary of George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, rated as one of the Top 10 Horror Films of All Time by Rolling Stone and credited with starting the zombie movie genre. All horror and cinema fans should celebrate this milestone as Night of the Living Dead was an independent box office hit that shocked a culture and has been revered by critics, fans, and generations of filmmakers for the last 50 years.
Rightly so, October 1st has been officially declared national “Living Dead Day” by Chase’s Calendar of Events, the most comprehensive and authoritative reference available on holidays, special events, and more.
