Finally, coming soon to a theater near you is Jane Austin’s classic re-written, this time with zombies and a whole bunch of kick-ass zombie-killing women!
After years of development hell, filming started last month on the set of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, with the Bennet sisters hiking up their skirts and corsets, and delivering round-house kicks to the undead.
David O. Russell, writer and director of Three Kings, Silver Linings Playbook, and American Hustle has written the screenplay’s first draft, and was set to direct. Due to the aforementioned development hell, Russell has been replaced with Burr Steers (Igby Goes Down), who is directing. The movie has brought together quite a stellar cast, which includes Lena Headey, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), and Matt Smith (Dr. Who).
Entertainment Weekly reports:
Elizabeth (Lily James), Lydia (Ellie Bamber), Mary (Millie Brady), Jane (Bella Heathcote), and Kitty (Suki Waterhouse) aren’t just eligible singles anymore; they’re sword- and knife-wielding martial artists.
It is these sisters that I look forward to the most. Lily James says this about her character:
Even in the original story, Elizabeth’s a fighter and beyond her contemporaries in her ambitions and her ideas of women. She’s a badass warrior. She’s a ninja.
Yes. A zombie-ass-kicking ninja! That’s the ladies at the top of the article!
