A number of successful film and television producers recently gathered at the annual Produced By Conference in Los Angeles to discuss the current and evolving trends in production, distribution, finance, marketing, branding and media strategy. Among the professionals this year were the men behind some of the biggest and most popular television series including True Detective, Hannibal, Homeland and The Walking Dead.
During one of the many exclusive panels, executive producer David Alpert made waves and excited fans when he briefly mentioned that there are already plans, “benchmarks and milestones” in place for the next six or seven seasons of AMC’s The Walking Dead!
I happen to love working from source material, specifically because we have a pretty good idea of what season 10 is gonna be. We know where season 11 and 12…we have benchmarks and milestones for those seasons if we’re lucky enough to get there.
With record-breaking Nielson ratings, hundreds of original comic books, and plans for an upcoming spin-off series already underway, it’s entirely possible that the series could easily continue production for many years to come.
But in the meantime, The Walking Dead is currently gearing up for its fifth season premiere in October. And AMC will be celebrating this Independence Day with a special Dead, White and Blue Weekend; a full series marathon featuring exclusive news, previews, interviews and more.
