George Romero has been working closely with Marvel Comics to bring zombie fans an exciting new comic book series this January! Set in New York City sometime after the zombie apocalypse, Empire Of The Dead will feature the fantastic artwork of Alex Maleev, who is perhaps best known for his amazing run on Daredevil with award-winning writer Brian Michael Bendis.
Welcome to New York City years after the plague has hit. But just because the Big Apple has been quarantined doesn’t mean that everyone inside is safe! Flesh-eating zombies roam within the confines of Manhattan…but they’re not the only predator that’s poised and ready to strike! Who or what is this new menace?
While Romero was reluctant to discuss his involvement with the project during a recent interview with the Zombie Research Society, specific details were finally unveiled last October as part of Marvel’s official announcement.
In addition, a number of exclusive NYC-themed variant covers by celebrity zombie artist Arthur Suydam (Marvel Zombies, Deadpool and cover art for horror punk band the Misfits) will be available when Empire Of The Dead hits comic book shelves early next month!
But for now, Marvel has released a few preview pages from the upcoming comic book series which we have embedded for you below. So take a look at the very first issue of George A. Romero’s Empire Of The Dead and let us know what you think!
