Otto; or, Up with Dead People (2008)
PLAY***
Controversial filmmaker Bruce La Bruce’s irreverent take on zombie movies centers on a cheerless, undead teenager named Otto, whose quest for love and acceptance outstrips his hunger for flesh. Feeding on roadkill, Otto wanders the streets contemplating his existence and looking for a job in this unapologetically campy German import. Jey Crisfar, Katharina Klewinghaus, Susanne Sachsse and Marcel Schlutt star.
Warning: Hardcore sexuality.

ParaNorman (2012)
When an army of zombies invades a small town, it’s up to an odd local boy with a knack for communicating with the dead to save the day. But judgmental adults prove to be even more formidable adversaries.

A great zombie movie for the whole family!

The People Under the Stairs (1991)
PLAY***
Master of horror Wes Craven brings an urban twist to the classic fairy tale in the story of Fool, a 13-year-old lad who succumbs to ghetto pressures to steal from a local house. Fool’s instant karma comes in the gruesome form of the house’s residents — an insane, deformed family of murderers. The perils of latchkey kids and warnings about absentee parents are the subtle social subtext as Fool and other victims try to escape the deadly home.

Yep– there are flesh-eating zombies in that house.  A whole mess of ’em in one house!

Pet Sematary (1989)
PLAY***
Behind a young family’s home in Maine is a terrible secret that holds the power of life after death. When tragedy strikes, the threat of that power soon becomes undeniable.

While questionable as a zombie flick in the Romero sense of the word, it does have dead returning from the grave.
Phantasm II (1988)
PLAY***
In this 1980s sequel to a ’70s cult classic, Mike (James LeGros) — the teen hero of the earlier film — has just been released from a mental hospital and is determined to resume his quest to destroy grave-robbing mortician, the Tall Man (Angus Scrimm). Enlisting the aid of his old pal, Reggie (Reggie Bannister), Mike must destroy the silver sphere-wielding   menace before he harms the mysterious girl who’s been appearing in Mike’s dreams.

PLAY***
Four scientists work to build a device that can bring dead organisms back to life, but they run into a host of unforeseen consequences
Planet of the Vampires (1965)
PLAY***
Italian horror maestro Mario Bava (Black Sunday) provides lots of creepy atmosphere for this cult chiller, which became a major influence for later science fiction and horror films. Barry Sullivan leads the European cast as Capt. Markary, commander of a space rescue mission whose members fall prey (one by one) to zombie-fying possession by alien entities. The film was also released as Demon Planet, Planet of Blood and Terrore Nello Spazio.

Note: though they call them vampires, they are really more like zombies.
Pleasures of the Damned (2005)

Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead (2006)
I was wondering when this Troma chick(en) flick would make it to Netflix.  The 4 (****) star rating above is for its sheer gross-out factor (on or beyond the level of Peter Jackson’s  “Dead Alive” — but with a different kind of genius at the helm (Lloyd Kaufman — who created Troma films.  Read his complete biography here).

Poultrygeist:
What happens when a fast-food chicken franchise is built on a sacred Native American burial site rife with restless spirits? Zombie chickens! Now it’s up to high school grad Arbie to find a way to destroy the featherless fiends.

  1. ‘Pandemic’ is a good one that is still active.

  2. put the rest of the resident evil movies on

    • The movie had to have been on Netflix in the past few years to be on the list. When the PLAY button is red, it’s available for streaming (and you can play it right from the list). If it’s grey, it’s not available at this time. They come and go, so we keep them up on the list (with the PLAY button greyed out). The Resident Evil movies listed are the only ones that have been available on Netflix in the past bunch of years. Just noticed RE: Extinction is back up. Will fix today. Thanks!

  3. you need to put all the other resident evil movies on

  4. Netflix sucks

  5. Hi,

I was wondering why most of these Zombie movies aren’t available on Netflix.

    Thx,
    K

    • Movies come and go, and come back again on Netflix all the time (kind of like the undead). I have purposely kept them on the list so that the list continues to grow into a list of every zombie movie out there, with descriptions, box art and ratings. But over the years, it has grown into a list of zombie movies NOT on Netflix. I am preparing a list of only active movies. Stay tuned.

  6. The Zombie flick im writing will be the best but the comment im writing is on a movie called Stakeland its a pretty cool movie
