This movie, by Rob Zombie, was a cult classic for years before it was even released– with no studio willing to release.  My zombie friends and I waited those years to see it.  Did it live up to our expectations?  Well, let’s just say– it lived up to the gore factor.  There were a number of awesome photographed scenes, showing Zombie’s flair for the dramatic, including an assassination that just goes on and on– awesome!
Also, watch for Rainn Wilson (The Office) as a half-man half-reptile!

Night of the Living Dead (1968)
Classic “zombie movie that started it all” — about a young lady visiting a graveyard who seeks refuge in a nearby home with an assortment of various other passersby who find strange creatures attacking them from outside the house. 1. Not really into anime but high school of the dead was pretty good. Was pissed they took it off of Netflix before I could watch the last 2 episodes. I hear they’re making a season 2

  2. You gave I-zombie 5 stars? dead snow 3 stars!? Lol all your opinions on zombie movies just proved worthless. Going to look elsewhere for reviews.

    • I-Zombie is a refreshing take on the zombie story, instead of a rehash of the same old tired concept of the zombie apocalypse. And I gave Dead Snow: 4 Stars, not 3 Stars (as well as Dead Snow 2) — brilliantly funny and gory flicks!

But you are entitled to your opinion, of course.

    • The red play button doesn’t always mean that movie is active. Tried looking for one that had a red play button, not on netflix..

  3. I Am Omega looks a lot like I Am Legend because both are remakes of The Omega Man, which was the movie version of I Am Legend, Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel. So, essentially, I Am Omega is a remake OF a remake.

  4. I think a lot of these are out of date and no longer on netflix.

  5. Exit Humanity should get at least 4 stars. I’d watch it over the overrated Day of the Dead any day.

  6. The scoring system here is too generous. Having watched most of these films, I assure you that you can drop one star from almost all of them. This is not to say that they aren’t decent movies. They suffer from low budgets which means rushed filming, amateurish actors, limited special effects, spotty sound, and so forth. Compared to studio funded movies they just don’t stack up overall. But don’t let that keep you from watching them. There are a few truly great films who surmount their limitations and others who at least have some hidden gems. Just don’t be surprised at the flaws.

    • I don’t disagree with what you have said, fundamentally. The thing is, these are all “zombie” movies (with some on the border)– so they are all being compared to the other movies in this genre (they are scored against others in the zombie genre — not big budget or classic films with directors like Martin Scorsese and A list actors). So a 5 star movie in this list would likely garner a 3 star at best in a list of all movies.

      Make sense?
