DAWN OF THE DEAD 4K SCREENING IN VENICE

Celebrated director and filmmaker Dario Argento will present a newly restored version of the 1978 zombie classic Dawn of the Dead at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival. The world premiere screening will be held at midnight on Friday September 2nd, in the Sala Giardino (Lido di Venezia) as part of the popular Venice Classics film series.

This exhibition of the European Cut, known as Zombi throughout Italy, features an exclusive look at the upcoming 4K remastered edition presented by Koch Media in collaboration with Norton Trust and Antonello Cuomo. Argento will be joined at the presentation by Nicolas Winding Refn, film historian and supervisor of the restoration.

I had always considered Dawn of the Dead, or Zombi, to be a clear example of great cinema, both innovative and outrageous at the same time. The most extreme and fascinating tale of American consumerism ever brought to the screen, there is nothing like it. I consider it a great honour to present the version restored in 4K of this masterpiece at the 2016 edition of the Venice Film Festival, which has always been important to me.

This special presentation offers fans a preview of the highly anticipated 4K high-definition boxed set scheduled for release next fall by Midnight Factory, which is expected to contain a number of exciting extras, interviews and multiple versions of the cult classic including both the Extended and Theatrical cut of George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead.
