TECHLAND REVEALS 15 MINUTES OF DYING LIGHT

Developer Techland debuted 15 minutes of Dying Light gameplay at IGN.com, showcasing some of the free-running, trap-setting, and head-bashing highlights from its upcoming zombie game.

The demo sees gamers running errands for a group of survivors, while learning more about the zombie virus that ended the world and the steps being taken to cure it. See why it pays to shape up for the apocalypse in these first tantalizing moments:

As hinted at in the demo, Dying Light will present unique objectives and dangers based on the time of day. When the sun is up, players will be tasked with setting zombie traps, foraging for supplies, saving humans, and avoiding lazy zombies. Come nighttime, however, the zombies will become a much greater threat and the odds of becoming a late-night snack for the undead will increase dramatically.

Thankfully, players will have over 100 craftable weapons to even those odds. They’ll also have the near superhuman-like ability to climb, jump, and run their way through the game’s urban environment with ease … which will come in handy in a world that looks to be fairly unforgiving for those who aren’t as mobile.

Visually, Dying Light makes the apocalypse look good. And thanks to Techland’s Dead Island track record, it’s a safe bet the gameplay will offer performance to match.

Dying Light is on track for a January 27, 2015 North American release (January 30 in the UK) for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
