TOWN OF THE LIVING DEAD, REALITY TV SHOW

Somewhere in the world someone  isn’t making a zombie movie.  That world is not in Jasper, Alabama.

In Jasper, Alabama, they have been trying to make a zombie movie for six years.  This is their story.

The movie is called Thr33 Days Dead.  The TV show is called Town of the Living Dead.  Yes, they’re making a reality TV show about making a zombie movie.  Sort of.  There is no doubt that a zombie movie is attempting to be made.  And when you see the inadvertent antics of the casts and crew, you will totally understand why they’ve been at it for six years.  In many cases, it’s actually hard to tell where the making of the movie starts and the making of the TV show ends.  Though this docuseries is being billed as unscripted, the characters and situations feel a little bit contrived.  But to be honest, aren’t all reality TV shows these days?

There’s no wrong way to make a zombie movie, but one small Alabama town is coming close.

Tina Teeter and her group of likeable screwups go through all of the motions of making a movie with the exuberance and gusto of people who have no idea what they’re doing.  And it can be actually pretty funny!  Add Jasper, a southern Christian town into the mix, and hi jinx are bound to ensue.

To give you a sense of what to expect, Episode 2 of Town of the Living Dead is appropriately called Premature Explosion, and yes, it involves a whole lot of dynamite.  What could possibly go wrong?

Town of the Living Dead premieres tomorrow night, Tuesday Oct 7, at 10/9c.

  1. Are they crowdfunding anywhere? I’d give them some money to help out.
