SILENT HILLS CONCEPT TRAILER: NIGHTMARE FUEL

Hot on the creepy heels of Kojima Productions‘ “P.T.” demo for Silent Hills comes a new trailer for the upcoming sequel. Revealed by developer Hideo Kojima during 2014’s Tokyo Game Show (TGS), the video serves up a steaming dish of “wtf?! ” with a side of legitimate scares and a genuine look at the next generation of survival-horror games.

“The concepts we’re discussing, the ideas that we’re discussing, and the tools that are in play to create Silent Hills are going to render an incredibly intense and an incredibly scary game,” teased Silent Hills director Guillermo Del Toro in a pre-recorded interview.

Judging by the two-minute clip below, “intense” doesn’t begin to describe it…

Silent Hills stars The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus in a lead role that will … well … we’re not entirely sure. Details are sparse, but from what we can tell from the PlayStation 4 demo and the scenes above, the game will see Reedus atoning for his past sins by surviving a hellish nightmare involving headless monsters, tentacled walls, and all sorts of nastiness. Which is to say, it will be a bona fide Silent Hill game.

Kojima didn’t have much to offer beyond the trailer, except to hint the game may be released in episodic format. As for a release date, fans may have to wait until 2016 to witness the terror in person.
