Distribution company Mance Media is reportedly developing a new television drama loosely based on the popular Resident Evil franchise. Tentatively known as Arklay, the scripted series will supposedly follow a desperate detective as he delves into a number of grisly and mysterious homicides on the outskirts of the infamous Raccoon City.
While the upcoming program has little more than a teaser page at the moment, creator Shawn Christopher Lebert has recently confirmed his involvement with the project, and provided a proof-of-concept video that promises a dark and gritty detective series.
When Detective James Reinhardt is thrust into a series of bizarre homicides, he unravels the city is hiding a dark conspiracy. Learning a fatal virus is connected to it all, Reinhardt discovers it’s already coursing through him. With time no longer on his side, he must solve the conspiracy to save his own life.
Resident Evil fans may recognize Arklay as the setting for many memorable moments featured in both the original video game series and feature film. This mysterious mountain region is home to a number of decrepit mansions, sinister laboratories, secret research facilities and is even known as the birthplace of the zombie T-Virus itself.
According to the official website, it appears that Mance Media expects to begin distributing the program sometime next year. However, with no press release or additional details, Resident Evil fans are simply left with Lebert’s mysterious compilation video which we have embedded for you below. So turn the lights down low to properly set the tone, and take a look at some of the eery inspiration behind the upcoming series Arklay!
