Depending on who you ask, the proverbial Zombie Apocalypse may already be upon us! The walking dead aren’t necessarily the creatures seen in film and television; zombies can also be defined simply as “will-less” human beings incapable of thinking for themselves.
The Mayo Clinic estimates that 70 percent of Americans take at least one prescription painkiller, anti-depressant or anti-anxiety drug every day. Author and naturopath Dr. Wil Spencer recently appeared on Truth Denied where he suggested that many Americans are already dead, for the most part, due to improper diet and the prescription drug culture.
Meanwhile, the Centers For Disease Control recently found that 66 percent of Americans drink fluoridated water via their municipal water system. Canada is a little better, with only 45 percent of its residents exposed to fluoridated water. And while the fluoride debate is too extensive for this article, keep in mind that the scientific name for the antidepressant drug Prozac is Fluoxetine… with fluoride being its main ingredient.
When the SHTF, your ability to find pure, clean drinking water and safe, natural food will determine how long you survive. Bear in mind however, that humans can live three weeks or longer without food, but only about 72 hours without water.
You may want to practice building a solar still in your backyard. All you need is a sheet of plastic, some rocks, a spade, and a cup to catch your water. Simply dig a hole and place vegetation in it or saturate the soil with dirty water. Cover the hole with plastic, and watch as the sun produces clean condensation on the plastic as the hours pass!
Fishing is also one of the easiest and most enjoyable skills to learn. Simply invest in a good, all-purpose rod and reel combo and head to a local lake or river.
