As a kid, I used most of my allowance to play real mechanical/electronic pinball machines. The thrill of mastering the movement of a small silver ball as it ricochets around an array of levers and springs and rubber bumpers to rack up noisy, flashing points on a leaderboard, is hard to explain to anyone who has never played a real pinball machine.
It’s hard to find these machines anymore, mostly because they are extremely expensive to maintain. Enter the digital pinball “machines.”
These are basically computer simulations, replicating all of the physics involved in the real thing. But what a digital pinball machine has over the real thing is what the real thing can’t do. Like having zombies run around after your ball, or have the ball itself turn into a zombie (these are my examples, by the way, and not necessarily in the game). The entire pinball playing field can morph and change in an instant.
Zen Studios is partnering with Telltale Games and Robert Kirkman to create a digital pinball table based on the award-winning The Walking Dead game series! This new table will bring the story and choice-driven gameplay of The Walking Dead: Season One journey to the playfield. Touring locations like Clementine’s treehouse, Everett’s pharmacy in Macon and down the tracks to the walker-infested streets of Savannah, players will find an authentic experience inspired by Season One, capturing the peril and drama of Lee and Clementine’s story.
The Walking Dead pinball table features choice-driven gameplay across each of Season One’s five episodes, along with original story dialogue from the award-winning cast. Scenarios include choosing who to save and who to leave behind in a walker attack, solving problems and raising morale within the group, searching for food and supplies, acquiring important tools, and navigating through the herd amidst an oncoming walker breach.
