WHERE ARE THEY NOW? TIMOTHY BALME (DEAD ALIVE)

Considered one of the bloodiest scenes in zombie film history, the climactic lawnmower scene in Dead Alive aka Braindead (1992)) sees a very young Timothy Balme plowing his way through hundreds of zombies to finish hip-deep in twitching zombie limbs, guts and brains.  Balme plays the hapless Lionel Cosgrove, trying to deal with Mum as she turns undead and begins to eat people (and dogs for that matter).

Classic classic Peter Jackson!

Where is Timothy Balme now?  Well, as it turns out, he’s been keeping himself very busy.  A couple of years after Dead Alive (and after a number of films and television with varying degrees of success and failure) Balme landed a role as sleazy biker Greg Feeney on an already running nighttime soap called Shortland Street and then the role of a monk in the TV serial Greenstone, in 1999.

Many shorts and television work followed and the popular TV show Mercy Peak in 2002.   More television roles and writing.

So where is he now?  Timothy Balme is currently starring in the popular TV comedy/drama called The Almight Johnsons (2011 – ) about four brothers, raised in heartland New Zealand, who also happen to be the living incarnations of Norse Gods. They even have their own super-God-powers. Sort of – it’s just that their powers aren’t actually all that powerful.  Series one is set to broadcast sometime in 2014 on Syfy.
