George Romero will join celebrity special effects wizard Tom Savini next month at the Alamo Drafthouse in Dallas, Texas for a very special screening of the 1978 zombie classic Dawn Of The Dead. The exclusive event is part of an exciting week-long celebration in association with Texas Frightmare Weekend, the Southwest’s premier horror convention!
Also scheduled to appear are special cast members David Emge and Scott Reiniger, who portrayed Stephen “Flyboy” Andrews and Roger DiMarco in the hugely popular cult film.
In 1968, George A. Romero created what would go on to be the modern zombie genre as we know it with NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. 10 years later, he redfined it with what is widely considered as the zenith of the genre with DAWN OF THE DEAD. Now almost 40 years since, it remains just as groundbreaking and influential a film as does Romero’s contribution to Horror and filmmaking in general.
We are thrilled to announced that we have teamed up with Texas Frightmare Weekend to present a very special showing of the film with a rare appearance by Mr. Romero, along with Makeup & Special Effects Wizard Tom Savini and key cast members David Emge (Stephen) and Scott Reiniger (Roger) in attendance!
Texas Frightmare Week at Alamo Drafthouse kicks off on Sunday, April 27th with a special 3D screening of Creature From The Black Lagoon and runs all week long, eventually culminating Thursday night with Dawn Of The Dead… just in time for George Romero and company to make their way to the horror convention the following morning!
