RUNNING FOR YOUR LIVES: WHAT’S YOUR SAFE HAVEN?

Ask anyone on the street where they might hunker down during the Zombie Apocalypse and you’ll probably hear Wal-Mart, Target or Home Depot. Sounds reasonable, at least initially. It makes perfect sense that people would want to go to a place with seemingly unlimited resources covering any situation at any time.  However, I offer the following alternative: RUN.

Wal-Mart and the other major suppliers are a great option for stocking up on supplies BEFORE the crisis hits. But after its arrival, two major issues come to mind. First; the lack of resources at these stores due to EVERYONE having the same idea and clearing the shelves. And second; the presence of actual zombies in the stores!  To expect there would be no zombies in these stores during the apocalypse is inconceivable considering the large concentrations of people always roaming the aisles.  My suggestion that you RUN for your life is now making sense, yes?

Certainly, the apocalypse would not simply happen overnight.  It would take time for the virus or Doomsday Infection to spread.  The news media would dutifully broadcast reports showing infected people and how the disease was spreading.  In my opinion, with no government intervention, it would take approximately a month for the virus to evolve into a full apocalypse.  Assuming you had been stockpiling supplies before and during this time – NOW is the time for you to get the hell out of town!

Stay away from ALL crowded areas and stores.  Make a plan of where you are going and how you’ll get there.  Take only what you can carry on your back (unless you have a bug out bag and a way to escape by car without getting stranded). My recommendation is to buy a survival book (How to Stay Alive in the Woods is a great resource) and head for the woods. Everything you need to survive can be found in the woods. It is nature’s version of Home Depot, if you know where to look and what to look for.

So when the apocalypse comes, run for your life.  Always keep moving unless you can find a place isolated enough to establish a permanent living area. Now, you might not have any survival skills, but this should not stop you. You can (and will) learn on the go. Trial and error is better than sitting tight and guaranteeing your own death due to starvation or a zombie attack.

By using common sense and keeping a low profile, you will survive and might end up actually thriving!  With that said; get a survival book, watch videos, build a kit and learn as much as you can now so when things go south, you are already five steps ahead.  Good luck and remember, what you don’t know can eat you!
