NEW DETAILS ON EMPIRE OF THE DEAD: ACT ONE

George Romero’s new comic book series Empire Of The Dead officially launched this week to the delight of zombie fans everywhere! The Marvel exclusive has been in the works for quite awhile now, and details were hard to come by. Romero himself was even reluctant to discuss the project during a recent interview with the Zombie Research Society.

However additional information has finally come to light, including a special preview of the first issue, allusions to vampires and some amazing new cover art from celebrity artist Arthur Suydam which we’ve embedded below. The official description at Marvel also provides a short synopsis for the upcoming series:

Welcome to New York years after the eruption of an undead plague—a city not only teeming with roaming zombies, but also ruled by vampires! Meanwhile, in the pit of the bloody Circus Maximus, can anything stop the unchained fury of the zombie gladiator known as Zanzibar? Who is plotting against the Mayor? Is there a zombie uprising afoot? And who in the firecracker known as Dixie Peach?

Empire Of The Dead: Act One is apparently a five issue arc of an ongoing series that is currently available in both print and digital editions exclusively from Marvel comics.

The second issue is scheduled to hit comic book store shelves early next month on February 5th, 2014. So make sure to visit the official Marvel website for even more information including ordering and subscription details or to download your copy today!
