SCIENCE ON THE SCREEN: DAWN OF THE DEAD

*UPDATED INFORMATION, PLEASE READ BELOW!*

Real Art Ways of Hartford, Connecticut is one of only eight cinemas throughout the United States selected to be part of the Science on Screen pilot program. And this Tuesday night, director of Massachusetts Forensic Neuropathology and author of The Neuropathology of Zombies, Dr. Peter Cummings will introduce and discuss George A. Romero’s seminal zombie film Dawn Of The Dead.

Science on Screen creatively pairs local scientists with entertaining films and promotes lively talks from notable experts in the fields of science, technology and medicine. Each film in the series serves as a way for each speaker to share insights from their scientific research and discuss technological advances in a way that is sure to engage audiences!

Dr. Peter Cummings is a Staff Medical Examiner and Director of Forensic Neuropathology at the Boston office of the Massachusetts Medical Examiner. His first book, Atlas of Forensic Histopathology, is a university text — and his second, The Neuropathology of Zombies, is a horror novel. Cummings theory that many neurological medical conditions can create zombie-like symptoms will be the basis of his introduction to the film.

Science on Screen is presented in collaboration with The Coolidge Corner Theatre with major support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and offers viewers the opportunity to fully explore the real-life science behind one of the most popular films in the genre.
