NEW WALKING DEAD SPINOFF SERIES ANNOUNCED!

AMC recently announced that they are currently developing a brand new spin-off show based on their hugely popular program The Walking Dead. Apparently the network is teaming up with executive producers Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert to produce what they are referring to as a “companion series” which is expected to air sometime in 2015.

Original comic book creator Robert Kirkman is also on-board and very enthusiastic about creating a fresh new drama “that isn’t tethered by the events” of the original series. Very little is actually known about the upcoming project right now. However, AMC president and general manager Charlie Collier called the idea “a no-brainer.”

We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.

Of course this news comes hot on the heels of another spin-off recently announced by AMC tentatively titled Better Call Saul which is based on the successful television series Breaking Bad. You can read the official announcement online at AMC for additional news and details about both of the upcoming programs.

But with the unending deluge of comic books, novels and video games… what do you think about the possibility of a spin-off series? Are you looking forward to a brand new chapter of The Walking Dead; or is this finally too much? Either way, don’t forget that season four of the original series premiers next month on Sunday, October 13th!

  1. Thanks to everyone for the book recs, also, can you believe there’s only been 3 seasons of TWD and they’re already talking spinoff? I’m pretty excited for both, especially if they aired concurrently. Crossovers ftw!!!! The only other fictional show I know of that’s doomsdayish is Under The Dome so more zombies gives me the tinglies. Hopefully this trend doesn’t stop for a long, long time.

  2. One: Super excited and ready for The Walking Dead to return!
Two: I think it is a great idea. If you’re a zombie fan I don’t think you can ever get enough of the zombie apacolyspe. I’m excited to see how it will play out plus I love Kirkland.

  3. Read John O’Brien’s “A new World Series”, and then tell me if it should be made into a series…. YEEEESSSSS!

  4. Reading a great book now that would make an awesome zombie series Northern Lights – check it out!

  5. There will never be enough of The Walking Dead!!!!! 🙂
