PLANTS VS. ZOMBIES ENSLAVES THE CHINESE?

PopCap Games recently released a special edition of Plants Vs. Zombies 2 specifically targeted for the Chinese market. However, despite the huge popularity of the original game, the new sequel has been criticized for being much too hard; apparently forcing players to buy in-game items in order to progress.

The free application has received a slew of bad user reviews, including harsh comments from some of the country’s top industry experts and analysts. Zheng Huafeng, who monitors China’s gaming industry, went so far as to claim that PopCap Games was trying to enslave its users!

Everybody is equal. So why is this game then not equal? … Everyone can see the Chinese edition is a slave treatment system, like a leech sucking hard-earned cash.

Plants Vs. Zombie 2 still ranks as one of the top games on China’s iTunes store. And some players have actually suggested that the English version is too easy for the Chinese market. But so far, PopCap and its local office in Shanghai have declined to comment on the growing controversy.

You can learn more about the game itself including downloads, screenshots and trailers by visiting the official website online at PopCap Games.
