SAN FRANCISCO NERDS TALK ZOMBIES

On the third Wednesday of every month, nerds from all over the San Francisco Bay Area converge on a cool little venue known as the Rickshaw Stop. It’s here that they listen to amazing presentations, enjoy a few drinks and discuss everything from the aerodynamics of paper airplanes to the inevitable zombie apocalypse!

This week Joseph Chen, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, will offer his thought-provoking presentation “They Will Kill You, Eat You, and Turn You: Zombies, the Next Great Thing in Research!”

Stem cell research is cool, but it will inevitably cause the Zombie Apocalypse. And what we’ll face won’t be the slow, decayed, shambling undead that are easy to dismember. Instead, we’ll get the fast, angry, genetically modified zombies without inhibitions or memories. They will want to eat your brains. They will kill you. They will infect you.

In addition to learning how treatment strategies for HIV, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s can help us understand the living dead; Nerd Nite SF #35 offers attendees the opportunity to simply enjoy a fun, informal gathering of like-minded nerds of all stripes. But space is always limited, so get your tickets early!

To learn more about Nerd Nite SF including upcoming events, contact and ticket information… just check out their official website. You can also visit them at Facebook and Twitter, or view their video presentations online via Vimeo. And additional details are always available directly from the Rickshaw Stop itself!
