HAPPY FIRST CONTACT DAY: STAR TREK VS. ZOMBIES

Fifty years from now, on April 5th, 2063, Dr. Zefram Cochrane’s first warp drive flight will attract the attention of a nearby Vulcan survey ship, prompting humanity’s first contact with an alien species. Popularly known as First Contact Day, the holiday is currently celebrated by Star Trek and science fiction fans all over the world!

And what better way to honor this anniversary than to resurrect an amazing live-action trailer for the classic zombie mash-up Night of the Living Trekkies? Originally released by Quirk Books nearly two years ago, this short book trailer is a perfect mix of Star Trek fandom and zombie culture!

This sci-fi/zombie/comedy/adventure follows a group of rag-tag Trekkies getting together for the fifth annual GulfCon (billed as the “largest Starfleet Convention in the western Gulf Coast region”). Our heroes are dressed in homemade uniforms and armed with prop phasers-but soon find themselves defending their hotel and convention center against hordes of flesh-eating undead.

In addition to Night of the Living Trekkies, zombies have invaded the Star Trek universe in a number of popular comic books from IDW Publishing! However, we don’t actually recall ever seeing a member of the undead terrorize Starfleet on any of the official Star Trek television series’.

So do zombies exist in the Star Trek universe? What alien species would make the most terrifying zombie? And here’s the immortal question: Zombie Kirk or Zombie Picard? Remember… the more you learn about zombie survival, the better chance you have to live long and prosper. Happy First Contact Day everyone!

  1. What about the Vulcan zombies in the ST:Enterprise ep, “Impulse”?

    • I’ve gotta’ admit that the Enterprise series is a bit off my radar. Just wasn’t much of a fan, although i have seen the entire series over the course of a few years. So i’ll have to re-watch that episode sometime and get back to you. But as long as there’s plenty of T’Pol… i’m totally fine with that!

  2. why hasn’t this been made into an actual movie yet? hurry up and take my money!

  3. For my view, the closest Star Trek came to Zombies was the Borg. Slow moving, scary as ****, individually mindless – and you couldn’t even kill them after taking out the first one.
