TEXAS LAB MISSING DEADLY VIRUS

ABC News is reporting that a vial of dangerous Guanarito virus has been lost or stolen from a secure research lab in Galveston, Texas. Guanarito virus is capable of causing deadly hemorrhagic fever, and has been the focus of U.S. research efforts because of its potential to be weaponized and used in a terrorist attack.

Even though the vial was stored in a Biosafety Level 4 laboratory, a classification used for research related to dangerous and exotic agents that pose a high individual risk of aerosol-transmitted laboratory infections, the routine inspection revealed that it is missing.

Symptoms of hemorrhagic fever include high fever, fatigue, and bleeding from the body’s mucous membranes, including the mouth, eyes and nose. Adults who contract the sickness have a 33% mortality rate.

Sounds a lot like the start of a zombie movie to us, maybe because of those lovely bleeding eyes.
