LAST RITES GALLERY PRESENTS ZOMBIE

Beginning this Saturday, May 25th the Last Rites Gallery in New York City will host an epic zombie-themed exhibition featuring fifty exceptionally talented artists! Appropriately titled ZOMBIE, the show itself will be curated by Travis Louie, and promises an amazingly diverse collection of artwork showcasing a variety of engaging and interesting interpretations on the very concept of what it means to be a zombie.

With this art show, we asked 50 artists to interpret the word “zombie”. What is it about living dead that intrigues us? Is it the idea that they were once like us? Are the masses really consumer “zombies” programmed to receive and carry out the demands of commerce, by going out and shopping for the latest things they’ve been convinced that they need? Or is the zombie sensation just another popular culture craze? Get your zombie on with us this summer.

The exhibition also marks the premiere of photographer Joshua Hoffine’s most recent masterpiece “Last Stand.” The artist has been creating truly horrific images for the last ten years by staging immensely elaborate photo shoots. But his latest (and possibly last) project promises to be the greatest of all… and it’s one that I’m happy to have personally supported via a recent Kickstarter campaign!

Don’t miss your opportunity to see this amazing collection of zombie-inspired artwork this summer at the Last Rites Gallery between May 25th and June 26th. The opening reception will be held this Saturday beginning at 7:00pm and offers the opportunity to meet a number of the artists themselves. So be sure to visit the official ZOMBIE exhibition website online for more information including a list of contributing artists, dates and gallery hours.
