To mark Zombie Research Society’s fifth year in existence, we commissioned artist Glen Ostrander to create a zombie poster based on Gottfried Helnwein’s famous 1984 painting Boulevard of Broken Dreams, which itself was based on Edward Hopper’s 1942 painting Nighthawks.

We just picked up the completed posters from the printer, and they look fantastic! And now you can get yours at the paypal link below for just $14.99.

From the name of the pub to the famous zombies spread throughout, this print is packed with zombie movie references. Bill Murray even shows up in the crowd, dressed in his Zombieland costume. Check out the detailed view above for some highlights. The dimensions are 19 inches high by 27 inches wide.

We already did one day of pre-orders, and judging by the interest, this print is not going to last long. There are only 1,000 posters printed. Once we run out, they’re gone forever.

  1. I got one of the first 200 for an xmas gift and LOVE it. I framed it and created a whole zombie room based around this piece, including movie posters from 28 Days Later, Zombie, World War Z, and Day of the Dead.

Only thing is I wish Lucio Fulci and maybe Tom Savini should have been included inside the diner. Sure George is the godfather of the modern zombie; but Lucio Fulci is usually equally credited in the genre. Tom Savini is a make-up genius and acted in 4 of Romero’s iconic movies.

  2. who’s the guy sitting inside the diner?

  3. Got my copy. I spent a few hundred dollars to have it framed and double matted. They pressed it so there is no wrinkle at all. Non-reflective & UV proof glass. It looks like a million bucks. I wish I could post a photo. it is amazing. I recognized most of the Zombies. Still trying to figure out a few. X.

  4. Just got my poster and love it. I hate to admit it but I don’t know where nearly enough of the zombies are from. Is there someplace that has a listing of who they all are and where they appeared? I did a search but came up empty.

  5. You guys should make these available at the Monstermania Horror Conventions in New Jersey. There’s one coming up in August, and they would sell like hot cakes!

  6. Just got mine! Lovin it! Now to find a frame!

Does anyone know what the zombie is that looks like its sitting on the lap of the saluting zombie (Bub)?

  7. Why isn’t Big Daddy from Land of the Dead included? Definitely overlooked one of the most iconic zombies of all time. Isn’t he the first one to communicate with and lead the hord? I already ordered my poster, but I would’ve liked to have seen him included.

    • We decided not to include Big Daddy, because three of Romero’s most iconic zombies are inside the cafe with him.

  8. I’m impressed by the idea, but not the execution.
