Aaah! Zombies!! (2007)

Finally, a film emerges with the courage to tell a zombie story from the perspective of the undead themselves. “Wasting Away” (aka “Aaaah! Zombies!!”) focuses sympathetically on a group of zombies just beginning to grasp the implications of their horrific new existence. Writer-director Matthew Kohnen’s comedic nightmare combines wit and absurdity in its novel approach to the zombie genre, revealing the suffering of a neglected monster minority.

Blood Creek (aka Town Creek) (2009)

Bowery at Midnight (1942)

Bela Lugosi (the original Dracula) sheds his cape   and fangs for the garb of a respected university professor — by day, that is. At night, he’s a criminal kingpin who works at a soup kitchen as a cover (and where better to recruit desperate accomplices?). When his cohorts have done their service, Lugosi kills them — unaware that they’ll be reanimated into an army of zombies intent on payback!
Brain Dead (2007)

In this low-budget horror flick from director Kevin Tenney, a sleepy fishing port town is consumed with terror when a small crater crash-lands nearby and releases a slimy parasitic agent that transforms the residents into brain-eating zombies. Cornered in an abandoned fishing lodge, six strangers are forced to band together to stave off the blood-sucking monsters clawing   the walls outside. Joshua Benton and Sarah Grant Brendecke star.

Romero’s classic zombie flick Day of the Dead, in which a mysterious disease causes the newly dead to come back to life and threaten the living. Meanwhile, military and scientific experts clash as they try to arrive at a solution. Miner and writer Jeffrey Reddick honor the story and social relevance of the first film but put a fresh spin on this tale of horror and intrigue.  
Nevertheless, a far inferior movie to the original.
Days of Darkness (2007)  
The world watches as a comet looms over the earth for days. The masses were told there is nothing to worry about. It was a lie!

Dead and Buried (1981)

DeadGirl (2008)
After skipping school and breaking into the boiler room of a deserted mental hospital, buddies Rickie (Shiloh Fernandez) and JT (Noah Segan) make a shocking discovery: the plastic-covered naked body of a woman lying on a gurney. When they realize that the woman may be alive, JT shocks Rickie by suggesting they take advantage of her. But all is not as it seems in this dark thriller: The door to the boiler room had been rusted shut for years.
Not your standard “zombie” movie.  This is a gritty disturbing movie, so be warned.  One that is highly recommended, though not for everyone.

 

The Dead Hate the Living! (2000)

Can’t decide?  Watch this one!  It’s a bloody good time!  Subtitles shmubtitles– as I mentioned to my buddy, “AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!” is spelled the same in English and Norwegian.

If you want to argue that this is not a zombie movie, then don’t watch it.  If you want to watch a movie that will stick with you long after you’ve watched it, then watch it.  ‘Nuff said.

  1. You guys forgot Dead & Breakfast, and Undead! Neither of them are Oscar winners, but both are very entertaining

    • Hi Jen. Are these 2 movies available for Instant Streaming? I know Netflix still does DVD deliveries in the States. I checked myself, and could not find either Dead & Breakfast, and Undead.
